We recently produced a batch of lawn bottom cases for a manufacturer. This client wants to improve the performance of their lawn mower, so he updated the lawn mower bottom case's design and sent us the design drawing, hoping that we can help him complete the production.
Suppliers' Inspection & Selection
In the early stage of project development, the DEWIN team conducted price comparisons and factory inspections for the client based on substantial supplier resources. Provide the most authentic information about the suppliers to the client, and at the same time, issue a dolphin report and give suggestions to help the client choose the most suitable supplier.
Reduce Development Risk
The development cost of large accessories such as lawn mower bottom cases is relatively high, and the mold fee is rather expensive. Hence, the client is worried that the samples after mold opening cannot meet the requirements. To reduce the development risk, DEWIN advises the client to choose another sample production method. After communicating with the client, we decided to provide him with samples through CNC machining, which is much cheaper. Still, there are subtle differences between CNC machined samples and casting in making samples.
After confirmation with the factory, we informed the specific differences to the client. Below are the details.
1. For CNC machining, there is no thimble imprint, and the surface will be much smoother.
But casting has a thimble imprint on the surface, and the cover is not as smooth as CNC machining. After powder painting, the character will be much better and similar to CNC machining.
2. The hardness of casting is better than CNC machining.
3. Material is different. CNC machining will use Aluminum 6061, and casting will use Aluminium alloy ADC12/A380.
4. After powder painting for casting, the surface and function are the same as CNC machining. Besides, considering the client are worried about the quality of samples made by casting, the factory said they could provide a quality and tooling life guarantee.
The above information is for the client's reference. And informed the client that they could contact us at any time if they have any questions or concerns about anything. After the client confirms the difference between the two machining methods, we start CNC machining.
Production Control
After we finish the CNC machining, we send the sample to the client. After the sample is confirmed, the client accepts the development plan.
In the process of mold development and mass production, DEWIN's QC follows up on the production progress every day and conducts online process inspection and final full inspection to ensure the absolute quality and delivery date of this batch of significant lawn mower bottom cases.
